WHO WE ARE

Welcome to the Institute For Leadership Education For African Democracy (iLEAD), a distinguished not-for-profit organization committed to fostering the stability and sustainable growth of democracies across the African continent. At iLEAD, our mission is rooted in the recognition of the pressing need for comprehensive research and analysis to enhance the quality of democracy in Africa. We are dedicated to addressing the prevailing dissatisfaction among the populace concerning issues such as governmental corruption and the conduct of elections.

The imperative for our existence is underscored by the understanding that democracy stands as the paramount solution to the major challenges of our time. From tackling inequality and public health crises to addressing climate change and countering the rise of authoritarianism and dictatorship, democracy serves as the linchpin for sustainable progress.

Research findings indicate that a significant portion of the African population resides in countries categorized as "not free" or "partly free." iLEAD recognizes this reality and strives to bridge the gap between current conditions and the true essence of democracy, which, at its core, is "a way of governance dependent on the will of the people.
